2010-11 NBA Season to Start – Hurry Up & Get Here Already

As a die-hard NBA and basketball fan, I am eagerly awaiting the opening of the 2010-11 NBA season. With so much off-season activity and player movement, I can’t wait to get a glimpse of each team in action. I am really hoping to have enough time this year to put together individual team previews, but I’m not sure it’s going to be a reality.
This is where you come in… We want you!

LeBron James Chooses Heat – Joins Dwyane Wade & Chris Bosh in Miami

LeBron James has spoken… it will be the Miami Heat in South Beach, FL.

Cleveland fans are probably the most dejected bunch in the country right now, while there are parties starting in South Beach no doubt. One has to feel bad for the Cavs’ following, but this is a business – it is a game – these are real people  - and really tough decisions have to be made.
See real-time reactions from Twitter fans here:

It remains to be seen exactly what other moves the Heat will make to build a …

Amare Confirms NY Signing, Bosh & Wade Team-Up in Miami

The first major NBA free agent signings have been officially declared, with Amare Stoudemire joining the New York Knicks on Tuesday, while Chris Bosh chooses to team-up w/ Dwyane Wade in Miami.
The final key piece before all the other free agents start getting targeted by teams looking to fill their holes?
LeBron James is to decide his future tomorrow at 9PM (EST) on ESPN. Once James declares his destination, expect a slew of smaller deals to start happening much more quickly. Everyone has been waiting for the Top 5 (or so) …

Mass Hysteria Expected as NBA Free Agency Kicks Off at Midnight (EST)

UPDATE: Track the latest Free Agent signings here @ Yahoo
In what is expected to be the most insane, frenzied and outright over-hyped free agent period the NBA has ever seen, the key question is still “where will LeBron James end up?”.  Despite all the news coverage, rumors and theories on where James and the other fellow elite free agents might go, no one really knows and we likely won’t until at least July 8th – the first date that players are allowed to sign their offers.
Teams have been showing their …

Kevin Garnett’s Intimidation Tactics – Effective or Not?

After watching the Boston Celtics punk the LA Lakers in game 5 of the NBA Finals yesterday to take a 3-2 series lead headed back to Los Angeles, I am convinced that the duo of Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol are literally scared shitless of Kevin Garnett.
You really don’t have to watch too long to see the reasons for this:
Emotional
Let’s face it, KG is one of the most vocal & physically emotional players on the court at all times. Between the fist pumping, chest punching, scowling, growling and downright (borderline) …

USA Basketball 2010 Uniforms Spotlight

The 2010 Team USA basketball jerseys were showcased this week and will debut at the World Basketball Festival in August (in NYC). The jerseys are supremely designed by Nike and have some advanced techno features that will make them very comfortable for the NBA players expected to suit up in August.
Uniform Details/Features
The Team USA jerseys will once again feature the “aerographics” on the back, which is just a clever way of saying “a pattern”.  This feature does more than look cool, they actually keep the player cooler via small perforations/air …

Rajon Rondo’s NBA Legend Continues to Grow

On Sunday night, the basketball viewing public got another chance to see the unique talent that is Rajon Rondo in all his glory. Short of turning into Jesus Shuttlesworth and draining eight 3-pointers, Rondo is clearly the catalyst* for the Boston Celtics in their pursuit of their 2nd NBA Championship in 3 yrs.
Rondo has dazzled fans w/ his ball fakes and ability to get to the rim almost at will – when he’s on his game.

A couple weeks ago before the NBA Playoffs started… wait, make that a couple months ago – I lamented the Boston Celtics for looking old and their time having run out.
They were losing home games and generally didn’t look like they had it all together to get anywhere in the playoffs. To be honest, I expected them to get knocked out in round 1 or 2 at the latest. Yet, here we are at the end of May and the Celtics have (& had) a chance to move on to …

LeBron James & Cavs Facing Menacing Elimination Game

The Boston Celtics are on the verge of knocking the Cleveland Cavaliers out of the 2009-10 NBA Playoffs, despite Cleveland being the early favorite to win the NBA Championship. Leading 3-2 in the series, which is headed back to Boston for Game 6, the Celtics thoroughly dominated LeBron & Co. on their home floor and sent them dejected into the locker room to ponder the possible repercussions of a series loss and complete team meltdown.
Cleveland’s Lofty Expectations
The Cavs went out and made several moves in an attempt to bolster their NBA Title hopes, including …

LeBron James MVP Winner 2009-2010 NBA Season

The NBA awarded its 2009-2010 MVP Award to Cleveland Cavaliers‘ forward LeBron James on Sunday. This marks the 2nd consecutive year that LeBron has won the Most Valuable Player award.  James continues to add to his legacy this season and push towards a season sweep of the MVP awards – he previously won the All-Star Game MVP in February. All that remains now is the MVP of the NBA Finals, but first he’ll have to get the Cavs there.
In a landslide, James proves that he is once again the NBA’s …

#6 Jerseys In-Demand; LeBron James, Gilbert Arenas Notables to Change their Numbers

Update 7/2/10: Gilbert Arenas is changing uniform numbers “again”. As reported today, Arenas is apparently switching to #9 instead of the #6 previously (changed to). Just more insanity from Gilbert… we should expect this stuff by now.
In what amounts to one of the biggest uniform/jersey related stories of 2010, the #6 jersey will soon become one of the most desirable for fans to scoop up.  Both LeBron James and Gilbert Arenas will be changing their jersey numbers next season in the NBA.

Allen Iverson Rejoins Philadelphia 76ers on 1-yr Deal

Updated 3/2/10
Allen Iverson‘s return to Philly has been ended due to personal family matters & an ongoing feeling that Iverson isn’t going to suit up again for the 76ers.  Iverson apparently has a 4-yr child suffering from health issues so it’s no surprise to see him siding w/ the family on this one.
No one knows if we’ve seen the end of Allen Iverson in the NBA, but he’s retired & un-retired once so anything is possible.  One doesn’t have to look far to see a star athlete who has changed …

NBA Review – Surprising Teams, Fantasy Studs & More Nov 12th, 2009

We’re now a little more than 2 weeks into the NBA season – most teams have played about 8-9 games to-date.  As such, we now have a little bit of an idea of what we might expect to see over the course of the season.  In today’s post, I’ll be covering the teams who have jumped out of the gates quickly (some surprisingly, others expected), some of the bigger stories so far and highlight the Top 5 Fantasy Basketball players in their respective position(s).
One thing is clear right now – …
