The Collegiate Licensing Company Names Top Selling Universities and Manufacturers
The University of Texas at Austin, EA Sports, Nike USA and the University Co-Operative Society Inc. Lead Year-End Rankings

ATLANTA, Ga., (August 18, 2008) - The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), a division of IMG Worldwide, is pleased to announce its annual list of top-selling institutions and manufacturers. These rankings represent royalties reported July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008 on all collegiate merchandise sold.

Notes of interest:

  • This marks the third consecutive year the University of Texas at Austin has ranked No. 1 in CLC’s fiscal year-end rankings.
  • LSU was the biggest mover amongst top-10 institutions. The University gained seven positions and finished the year at No. 4.
  • The University of Kansas’ men’s basketball national champions licensing program has set a record for the most royalties generated specifically from the sale of men’s basketball national champions merchandise. The previous record was held by North Carolina following its 2005 National Championship.
  • Other institutions making significant gains from last year in the top-75 rankings include: Michigan, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Penn State, Kentucky, Alabama, Missouri, Auburn, Syracuse, Arkansas, Tennessee, Illinois, South Florida, Memphis, Oregon State, South Carolina and Boise State.
  • Nike USA Inc. has occupied the top spot amongst collegiate apparel licensees since 1999.
  • EA Sports has maintained its No.1 status in non-apparel products since Q3 of 2003.
  • Top local licensee University Co-Operative Society Inc, an Austin, Texas-based collegiate apparel and non-apparel manufacturer, produces officially licensed product for the University of Texas.
