So your team just came off of one of the worst seasons in franchise history.  Ticket sales are projected at an all time low for the upcoming season.  The team’s superstars are grumbling and upper management is enforcing strict parking space rules at the practice field.  What can the franchise do? How do they erase the sting of a horrible season in the player’s and fan’s eyes alike?  Simple…You change your logo.

Although not unseen in past 1st round NBA playoff series, a few players and teams this year are scrapping it up a little earlier than might be expected.  Not only are the games pretty physical, but they have also been extremely competitive and entertaining (btw… I know they aren’t as physical as the 80′s).
Most of the action is in the Eastern Conference, where the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls are trying to see if they can go into overtime every game of the series.  The Celtics came in as the …

Not necessarily “big” news for the Arizona Cardinals considering they drafted “Beanie” Wells in the 1st round of this past weekend’s NFL Draft.  They already have Hightower at RB, so adding Wells should give them, at minimum, what they had last year.  They still might not get out of the cellar in terms of …

On Sunday afternoon, the Detroit Pistons got a share of their own medicine – their own “old” medicine at least.  After devouring opponents enroute to 7 straight Eastern Conference Championship games, Detroit got run over by a hungry and determined Cleveland Cavaliers team.  The Cavs, who never felt threatened and really never even looked vulnerable in the 1st round playoff series, swept the Pistons 4-0 and advanced to the 2nd round.
King James Leads by Example
Led by Lebron James, the Cavaliers dominated in virtually every aspect of the game from start-to-finish, …

The NFL Draft took place this weekend and their were a lot of big picks, trade-ups and trade-downs.  In perhaps the biggest draft trade, the New York Jets traded up to get quarterback Mark Sanchez out of USC – the Cleveland Browns gave up the pick to move down (which they ended up doing several times).
Matthew Stafford‘s mission is daunting: Lead the Detroit Lions back from the only 0-16 season in NFL history. Mark Sanchez has nearly as big a challenge: He’ll compete for a chance to replace Brett Favre

Not a surprise to most NBA followers today, after Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose is announced as the Rookie of the Year for the 2008-09 season.  Rose excelled early and late, including a late regular season run and eventual #7 seed in the Eastern Conference.
Derrick Rose seemingly had all the necessary skills to excel in the pro game and he showed no delay in exhibiting them to the Chicago & NBA faithful.  Coming out of Memphis and an NCAA Championship loss to Kansas, Rose was selected with the #1 …

Fresh of a demolishing 2008-09 season in the NBA, the awards voters rewarded Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard w/ the league’s Defensive Player of the Year Award.
Starting the season on a mission to dominate the league in both blocks and rebounds, Howard wasted no time setting the tone on both ends.  Keeping up his stats during the season was definitely a challenge, but something Dwight Howard has sought since the summer.  After discussing the game w/ other great centers, Patrick Ewing and Dikembe Mutombo, Howard determined that winning slam dunk …
