Alex Rodriguez Admits to Using Steroids; Watch Interview

9 February 2009 1 views

The New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez announced today, in an interview w/ ESPN’s Peter Gammons, that he took performance enhancing drugs thru 2003 (for 3 total yrs) while w/ the Texas Rangers. Stating several flaws in his own judgment, including calling himself stupid and naive, the highest paid baseball player comes clean (we hope).

ESPN’s Peter Gammons’ Alex Rodriguez Interview

Rodriguez admits taking performance enhancing drugs

A-Rod admits to taking “unknown drugs” during a few key years after signing a monster $250 million contract w/ the Texas Rangers. Feeling “immense pressure” and the “world on his shoulders” to deliver after receiving such a large contract, Rodriguez admits taking supplements and/or other performance enhancing drugs.

A-Rod steadfast that he did not lie to Katie Couric

Alex Rodriguez suggests that he what he told Katie Couric on 60 Minutes several years ago was the truth, at the time. He claims not to have known, 100% sure, that he had tested positive for a test in 2003. He suggests that he just found out from the Sports Illustrated reporter several days ago at his gym.

Alex Rodriguez claims to have stopped taking steroids in 2003

According to the interview, A-Rod indicates that he stopped taking the performance enhancing drugs in 2003, before he was traded the the Yankees. During the 3 years that Alex claims to have been using the drugs, he tallied 156 home runs. Currently ranked 12th all-time in home runs, Alex Rodriguez was supposed to be the “clean hope” of removing the asterisk of Barry Bonds all-time home run record. Now that A-Rod has admitted to taking the drugs, he is no better than Bonds, and thus, the records will be tainted regardless.

103 MLB players still keeping secrets on drug use

Now that we know about A-Rod’s poor choices and steroid use, there are still 103 players on the “positive” test list that is now in the hands of the government. At this point in time, I would hate to be one of those players who knowingly took performance enhancing drugs, and so far, have gotten away with it. The guilt and shame they must be feeling is beyond imagination (hint hint guys)…

Steroid era to go down in history w/ an asterisk

It is still unknown how many players took steroids in the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s, and we will likely never know all of the baseball players that took the drugs. It is a shame that these players may never be identified and that some may still receive Hall of Fame votes and/or continue to earn “dirty” money. In reality, these cheating baseball players are no different than the crooks in Wall Street – they just used their bodies to steal money from us. Yes us… we pay the tickets and buy the merchandise. A-Rod and others have fraudulently stolen our money… where is our bailout?
