Proud owner of a major league record for saves and on the verge of a record contract, the Angels’ closer has never been so relaxed.
The public persona of Francisco Rodriguez is one of elbows and knees flying, of a herky-jerky, almost frenetic delivery from which the Angels closer launches a vast array of pitches that now includes not one, but two, changeups.

Pardon me, but K-Rod is not the greatest thing since sliced bread, regardless of how many saves he has. The Angels would be idiots to grant this guy a huge contract extension. He hasn’t pitched more than a full inning all year - how hard is that, seriously? Try being the 2 inning setup guy or the starter for that matter.
Yes, Francisco Rodriguez is a special talent and a great closer in Major League Baseball, but he’s no Cy Young candidate and he’s not even the best reliever in the game. Give him credit for breaking the saves record, but have him pitch for 4 outs, 5 outs or 6 outs for a change. Let’s see if he can perform at the same pace.
