2009-2010 Tracy McGrady Jersey Changed from No. 1 to No. 3
In an effort to support the cause(s) in Darfur, the Rockets’ (as of this writing) Tracy McGrady will be changing his jersey number from #1 to #3. The change is to support McGrady’s “3 Points Darfur” initiative/documentary, which helps bring awareness to the issues in the country.
The Darfur Dream Team enlists athletes to help raise funds for schools in Chad for Darfur refugees in a sister school program with schools in the United States. The documentary “3 Points” follows McGrady on his trip to Sudan and Chad in the summer of 2007. More details on this story
McGrady put in the jersey change request in the middle of last season and it was recently approved by the league. Tracy McGrady wore #3 in high school, so the new uniform number isn’t all that new to him. Recently acquired Trevor Ariza will sport the Rockets’ #1 uniform for the upcoming season.
The new Tracy McGrady jerseys aren’t quite on the market yet, but will be soon. Bookmark the link below if you’re interested in purchasing one when they’re available. Help support the cause by wearing T-Mac’s #3 jersey in your neighborhood/area.
