The Utah Jazz are looking to move Carlos Boozer soon and reports are that 2 other teams are involved in a possible trade that would help each team. Both the Portland Trail Blazers and Chicago Bulls are rumored to be in on the deal, along w/ the Jazz and at least 4 players would change teams if everything goes through.
- Carlos Boozer to the Chicago Bulls – Chicago needs a post presence and Boozer would help provide it. He plays decent defense and can hit the spot up shot w/ pretty good consistency. Boozer’s contract ends after next year, so a sign-&-trade may be in the works – unknown at this point.
- Kirk Hinrich to the Trail Blazers – Portland needs a solid point guard, no offense to Steve Blake, and Chicago had a gluttony of them w/ upcoming superstar Derrick Rose pretty much solidified as the starter for the next decade. This is a great situation for Hinrich and I’m sure he’ll do well leading the up & coming Blazers, who are looking to get over “the hump”.
- Tyrus Thomas to the Jazz – Utah is a pretty smart team, and aside from a few years missing the playoffs, has fielded a competitive team every year despite the loss of Stockton/Malone. Boozer is getting up there in age, wants a ton of money and is highly injury prone. Thomas on the other hand, has 3 yrs experience now and is still only 23 yrs old. He has been getting better each year & the Jazz are betting that he’ll be able to fill the void in Utah for a few years.
Utah could gain the potential cap room to re-sign forward Paul Milsap, a player who they do not want to see leave via free agency this offseason.
This most recent trade rumor continues a busy summer of NBA trade activity, featuring the likes of Shaq, Vince Carter and others. And to think, next year could be even crazier w/ LeBron James, Dwyane Wade & others available.
