A new list of top NBA jerseys has come out recently detailing the Top 10 NBA Team apparel & merchandise sales for December 2008.  The NBA Store is reporting the figures, as well as indicating a 10% increase in overall sales from the previous season.  Considering the sputtering economy and sluggish Christmas season, this is quite amazing for any league to report an increase in sales.

So without further ado, here are the Top 10 NBA Teams, ranked according to merchandise sales at the NBA Store:

1. Los Angeles Lakers
2. Boston Celtics
3. New York Knicks
4. Cleveland Cavaliers
5. Chicago Bulls
6. Phoenix Suns
7. Detroit Pistons
8. New Orleans Hornets
9. Miami Heat
10. San Antonio Spurs

This list is not too surprising, although based on league records, we could point out a few notables missing, including: Orlando Magic, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers.

Dwight Howard and the Magic are playing extremely well in the East, alongside the Celtics and Cavs, while the Rockets have two of the leagues most popular players (China factor) in Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady.  Dallas is a perennial list topper due to their uptempo style of play, but they haven’t been playing so well of late.  Denver has Chauncey Billups and Carmelo Anthony (& Nene), while Portland has All-Star Brandon Roy and the ever-aging Greg Oden to boot.
