Daunte Culpepper Feeling Unwanted; Chooses Retirement
Football News from NFL.com
Daunte Culpepper, who starred for the Minnesota Vikings before a major knee injury in 2005 curtailed his career, retired from the NFL on Thursday.
This is truly a sad ending to what looked like a brilliant career for Daunte Culpepper.  Drafted by the Vikings and teamed w/ Randy Moss, Culpepper looked like he could take over the league as the top quarterback. Unfortunately, injuries caught up with him and he was never able to recover.
Stuck in Miami the past few years and not allowed to compete for the starting job, Culpepper explored the market to see if other teams were interested. Other NFL teams had interest, but nothing long term (no longer than 1 yr). For Daunte, this must have seemed like a slap in the face, otherwise why would he just retire? He should’ve taken it a little better and signed w/ the Packers or Bears as a backup. Lord knows he would have ended up as a starter by season’s end anyway.
