In a rather uncommon move, the NFL reduced playoff football tickets by 10% from the previous year.  The move, a direct response to the troubling economic times facing the USA these days, is certainly a sign of goodwill for the league.

Unaffected by the change, however, are the ticket scalpers & ticket brokers who will still rape & pillage on their way to making a profit on the tickets.  The NFL could easily sell 1/2 of their tickets at 25% or more than the current prices and fans would still pay – they pay scalpers more than that often times.  If you factor in that the games are playoffs, the tickets are even more valuable, sometimes 100% more than face value, regardless of where the seats are.

Regardless, it is a good sign by a sport dominated by greed and high revenue streams.  They truly don’t need the money it would’ve generated, so why not offer a discount to increase demand ???
