Major League Baseball’s October classic kicks off today in fine fashion, matching up the league’s best for a memorable playoff season.
Yesterday’s 1-game playoff between the Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers was an instant (ESPN) Classic.  12-innings, something like 24 hits and 20 stranded base runners in total.  Both teams were hungry, but the Twins executed in the clutch and pulled out the win to advance to meet the Yankees – baseball’s best (regular season) team.

2009-2010 New York Knicks NBA Preview

Preview courtesy of Stu Holdren @ NBANoise
Key Additions:
Darko Milicic (trade)
Gabe Pruitt (free agency
Jordan Hill (draft)
Toney Douglas (draft)
Key Losses:
Quentin Richardson (trade)
Chris Wilcox (free agency)

The Breakdown:
The New York Knicks finished last season with the second-worst record in the Eastern Conference, only finishing above the injury-plagued Washington Wizards. It was somewhat of a transitional year for the Knicks, recovering from the Isiah Thomas debacle and getting adjusted to the up-tempo Mike D’Antoni offense. We saw some continued progress from young talents such as David Lee, Nate Robinson and Wilson Chandler, giving Knicks fans …

Jarrett Jack (free agency)
Marco Belinelli (trade)
DeMar DeRozan (draft)
Rasho Nesterovic (signing)
Reggie Evans (trade)
Amir Johnson (trade)
Antoine Wright (trade)
Key Losses:
Shawn Marion (trade)
Jason Kapono (trade)
Anthony Parker (free agency)
Pops Mensah-Bonsu (free agency)
Kris Humphries (trade)
Roko Ukic (trade)

The Breakdown:
The Toronto Raptors are coming off of what only could be described as a disappointing season. Only a year removed from a .500 season and sixth seed in the Eastern playoffs, the Raptors stumbled to a 33-49 record good only for the title of “third worst” in the East. This …

2009-2010 New Jersey Nets NBA Preview

Preview courtesy of Stu Holdren @ NBANoise
Key Additions:
Rafer Alson (trade)
Courtney Lee (trade)
Tony Battie (trade)
Terrence Williams (draft)
Key Losses:
Vince Carter (trade)
Ryan Anderson (trade)
The Breakdown:
For a team that struggled finding wins last year with Vince Carter in the lineup, this season could be even more bleak for the New Jersey Nets without him. To recap, the Nets shipped out Carter and Ryan Anderson to the Orlando Magic in exchange for Rafer Alston, Courtney Lee and Tony Battie. I think it is safe to say that the Nets are in rebuilding mode. This trade …

2009-2010 Philadelphia 76ers NBA Preview

Preview courtesy of Stu Holdren @ NBANoise
Key Additions:
Jrue Holiday (draft)
Jason Kapono (trade)
Primoz Brezec (free agency)
Key Losses:
Andre Miller (free agency)
Reggie Evans (trade)
The Breakdown:
The Philadelphia 76ers are coming off of a respectable .500 season that led to a sixth seed in the Eastern playoffs (where they were eventually beat by Orlando). They had built a reputation as an exciting, up-tempo group let by the court vision of Andre Miller and the athleticism of swingmen Andre Iguodala and Thaddeous Young. The Sixers were somewhat forced to rely on their fast offensive …

2009-2010 Boston Celtics NBA Preview

Preview courtesy of Stu Holdren @ NBANoise
Key Additions:
Rasheed Wallace (free agency)
Marquis Daniels (free agency)
Key Losses:
Leon Powe (free agency)
Gabe Pruitt (free agency)
The Breakdown:
If you are a Boston Celtics fan, you should be excited for this season. The Celtics have returned all of the key components to the 62-win team of last year. A team that, even without Kevin Garnett in the playoffs, competed admirably and was still a threat to win on even given night. Just having Garnett back in full form would be enough for me to put the Celtics …

Philadelphia 76ers Announcing New Uniforms Wednesday

The Philadelphia 76ers are launching new uniforms on Wednesday, September 23rd at approximately 5:15 PM (EST).  The new Sixers jerseys are not expected to be too different from the current jersey, but the logo has “gone retro” for the coming year.
Fortunately, the new jerseys were leaked back in August – see them here on Dimemag.com.
Looks like a simple design w/ the bright red color overall, shiny blue trim and SIXERS spelled out across the chest.  The new logo is going to be on the shorts (on the side(s)).
Definitely not the …
