Cowboys Cut Safety Roy Williams

J-Jerseys Admin | NFL | Thursday, March 5th, 2009

Football News from NFL.com

The Dallas Cowboys announced the release of veteran safety Roy Williams on Thursday.   Continue reading on NFL.com

This move comes only hours after the Cowboys also released wideout Terrell Owens.  Dallas is obviously trying to cut costs and get rid of poor character players (not Williams to my knowledge).

Terrell Owens Released by Cowboys -What’s Next?

J-Jerseys Admin | NFL | Thursday, March 5th, 2009

Despite putting up decent numbers for the Dallas Cowboys over the past 3 seasons, troubled wide receiver Terrell Owens was releases yesterday.  The move comes weeks after team owner Jerry Jones insisted that America’s Team was not looking to get rid of Owens.

Terrell has a history of blowing up on his teammates and coaches, but he is one of the hardest working & talented receivers in the NFL.  His stats are already good enough for Hall of Fame consideration, but his attitude may prevent him from being a 1st ballot HOF’er.

The interest level for an grumpy, older wide receiver is not that good these days.  With the release of Marvin Harrison recently and possibly Torry Holt, the late 90’s, early 2000’s stud WR’s are nearly out of the game.  Sure, each would likely find a home for a few extra years like Jerry Rice did w/ the Raiders, but their teams sent them a message - you can’t perform at the same level you have in the past and we can’t afford that.

Teams that might have interest in TO include:

  • Kansas City Chiefs - New coach, new quarterback… possible bad combination, however, to bring Owens in, as he could wreck the whole thing.
  • Oakland Raiders - Never a team to shy away from spending money of troublesome players.
  • St. Louis Rams - They suck, so why not?

Tony Romo & Cowboys Dominate Seahawks on Turkey Day

J-Jerseys Admin | NFL | Thursday, November 27th, 2008

Football News from NFL.com

Tony Romo might not want to take the splint off his passing hand the way he and the Dallas Cowboys are playing.   Continue reading on NFL.com

The Dallas Cowboys are rolling after winning their 3rd straight game after Tony Romo’s return to the lineup.  The Cowboys offense is potent and capable of scoring at virtually anytime.  The defense, especially against a weak Seattle Seahawks team, also looked good, including a 3-sack game w/ DeMarcus Ware who leads the league now w/ 15 total.

The traditional Turkey Day game for Dallas ends in their favor and they once again look like a team to be reconned w/ as the playoffs near.  At 8-4, the Cowboys are currently have the 4th best record in the NFC, which should be good enough get them in (today).

Tony Romo threw 3 TD’s in the game, including one to both Jason Witten and Terrell Owens.  Marion Barber and the running game struggled, but they did enough to beat Seattle.

Dallas may have lost both Barber and Ware, as they were each injured in the victory.  Owner Jerry Jones stated that he feels neither injury is serious, so who knows, they could play next week w/out any problems.

DeMarcus Ware Ties NFL Record w/ Sack in 10th Straight Game

J-Jerseys Admin | NFL | Sunday, October 19th, 2008

Football News from NFL.com

DeMarcus Ware of the Dallas Cowboys tied the NFL record with a sack in his 10th straight game on Sunday.  Continue reading on NFL.com

Despite tying the sack record, the Cowboys’ DeMarcus Ware was unable to save the team from an embarrassing defeat to the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.  After opening the game 7-0, Dallas simply faded away, allowing 34 straight points to the Rams before scoring again w/ just a few minutes left.

The Cowboys certainly felt the loss of quarterback Tony Romo (broken pinkie), but the TEAM lost the game - not Brad Johnson (Romo’s replacement).  Jerry Jones apparently was furious after the game and had a pretty serious bitch-fest w/ the entire team in the locker room.

Dallas has lost 3 of it’s last 4, but has a BYE next week to recover and figure out what’s wrong.  Following their loss to the Arizona Cardinals, the Cowboys simply overlooked the suddenly red-hot Rams, who have won 2 straight after starting the season 0-4

Tony Romo May Start After Solid Practice, But Who’s Ultimately Deciding?

J-Jerseys Admin | NFL | Friday, October 17th, 2008

There is speculation among sports experts and those in know, that there is a possibility Tony Romo is being rushed back to quarterback the Dallas Cowboys for a very simple reason… to placate Terrell Owens.   The decision, apparently is in the hands of owner Jerry Jones, who controls virtually every aspect of the Cowboys organization, including personnel decisions.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo practiced Thursday, raising the possibility that he could play despite a broken pinkie finger on his throwing hand.  Continue reading on NFL.com

Rushing your franchise quarterback from an injury is surely not the answer for the Cowboys, but if he’s healthy enough to play, why not let him?  Screw TO altogether - if Romo gives the team a better chance to win, and he does, he should play if he’s able to.  Brad Johnson is no slouch and could handle the QB duties w/out any problems.  I’m even confident that he could keep Owens happy on offense too if needed.

Rumors are also flying that wide receiver Roy Williams was acquired from the Detroit Lions as insurance in case Owens goes awol on Dallas.  Certainly, Williams could step up and fill the void left by TO if that were to happen. Until then, however, the tandem will be an interesting match-up for NFL defenses, as well as great weapons for Dallas.

Cowboys’ Adam Jones Suspended Indefinitely by NFL - 4 Games Minimum

J-Jerseys Admin | NFL | Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Fresh off the Dallas Cowboys 2nd loss in as many games, the NFL has suspended cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones indefinitely, which apparently translates to a minimum of 4 games. Jones was used extensively in the last few games, including on punt returns, so his loss hurts an already weak secondary unit.

Prior to Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals, Dallas’ owner Jerry Jones insisted his player committed no offenses and should be allowed to play.  Less than 48 hrs after the incident, however, Jones was siding w/ the NFL Commissioner insisting that Adam Jones screwed up and needed to be accountable.

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones was suspended for at least four games by the NFL on Tuesday for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.  Continue reading on NFL.com

In other Cowboys news, the team traded the Detroit Lions for former University of Texas star Roy Williams to tidy up the wide receiving core.  Williams is known as somewhat of a slouch, so it will be interesting to see how he fits into the mix in Dallas.  He certainly gives them another threat to compliment Terrell Owens.

AZ Cardinals Defeat Cowboys on Punt Block TD in Overtime

J-Jerseys Admin | NFL | Sunday, October 12th, 2008

The Arizona Cardinals started and finished the game w/ a big bang against the suddenly struggling Dallas Cowboys. After opening the game w/ a kickoff return for a touchdown, the Cardinals were on top of the world. What followed for the next 30 min, was arguably one of the worst, sloppiest 1st halves of the season by both teams. Fumbles beget fumbles and two of highest scoring teams in the NFL entered halftime at a virtual standstill.

The Cardinals, led by Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald, looked strong with the lead early in the 4th quarter. Tony Romo and the Cowboys were not done, however, and led a stirring comeback to trail 24-21 with only minutes to go. Arizona had failed to convert a 1st down and punted to Dallas. The Cowboys promptly marched down the field and setup for a game-tying field goal. Prior to the snap, Arizona Head Coach Ken Wisenhunt called a timeout, which just so happened to nullify a blocked kick. DOH! On the 2nd try, Dallas hit the FG to force overtime.

Sean Morey blocked Mat McBriar’s punt and Monty Beisel scooped up the ball and scored from 3 yards to give the Arizona Cardinals a crazy 30-24 overtime victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Continue reading on NFL.com

The overtime period started with an injury to Tony Romo’s throwing hand and a quick 3 & out for the Cowboys. As you can read above, the Cardinals blocked the punt and scored the winning touchdown to move to 4-2 on the season - the same record as the mighty Cowboys.

Cardinals fans around AZ have reason to believe their team can win this season, but this fan is not sold yet… They have done this before, teasing us and playing with our minds - making us believe they are better than they really are. Only time will tell if this Arizona Cardinals team has the makeup & strength to continue to win football games. They certainly go into their Bye week on a high - enjoy it while it lasts and pray that it continues.

The Cowboys certainly get the raw deal out of this one, as reports come out on Monday that QB Tony Romo will miss at least 4 weeks with a broken pinkie on his throwing hand. This comes at a horrible time for Dallas, losers of 2 straight NFC match-ups. Veteran Brad Johnson will man the helm for the Cowboys until Romo returns.

The Cardinals are now 4-2 on the season and primed for a playoff push. Get your authentic or replica Cardinals jerseys and other merchandise below:

Tony Romo Jersey - Dallas Cowboys Player

J-Jerseys Admin | NFL | Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

Second year Dallas Cowboys quarterback and league darling, Tony Romo, has been making headlines lately for his relationship w/ singer Jessica Simpson. Cowboys players and others in the locker room have apparently been questioning where Romo’s focus is - on the team or on Simpson. Throughout their latest game, a loss to the hated Eagles, Jessica Simpson was shown wearing a pink Tony Romo jersey in a suite at the stadium.

With his new girlfriend in attendance, Tony proceeded to have the worst game (statistically) of his career. He had a similarly horrible game the last time his girlfriend, then Carrie Underwood, attended a game in person.

Despite the one-game lapse, Tony Romo is still one of the best quarterbacks in the league and is sure to lead his team to at least the second round of the NFL playoffs, if not all the way to the Super Bowl.

If you support the Cowboys or Tony Romo and you don’t have a jersey yet, we’ve found a full selection of Tony Romo jerseys for you below:
