Athletes must have a certain discipline to remain in optimal condition to get the most out of their bodies. Some workouts athletes incorporate into their lives can be beneficial and inspire some good habits that will produce results. However, before following any workout of a top athlete there are a few things to keep in mind.
Keep It Realistic
Workouts followed by pro athletes and bodybuilders may seem glamorous and easy to emulate in glossy magazines or infomercials, but remember that such magazine articles or TV ads are meant to sell workout equipment …

Pete Rose just spent his 70th birthday still blacklisted from baseball. As yet another milestone for one of baseball’s most storied, infamous player-coaches comes to pass, the debate about Rose’s past and future with Major League Baseball will once again fill the sports talk airways and interwebs. From gambling and steroids to sex and violence, throughout the last 20 years since Rose’s problems surfaced we have witnessed many athletes fall victim to their own self-made scandals, and yet just as many are able to walk away scot-free.

Quarterback Tom Brady will have surgery on his right foot as early as Monday to repair a “stress fracture” that he’s had for over 2 months. Despite leading the New England Patriots to a 14-2 record, a playoff bye & likely an NFL MVP award, Brady has reportedly been playing w/ the injury, but the time has come to get it fixed.
Brady’s foot injury first was listed on the injury report after the Patriots’ 34-14 loss at Cleveland on Nov. 7, New England’s final regular-season loss. He missed six practices …

NFLShop.com and the NFL announced the most popular football jerseys of the year (Apr 1 – Oct 31) recently and there are some interesting takeaways from the list. The most frequently purchased jerseys are essentially post-draft sales counts, but the draft started on 4/22 so there is some brief overlap and/or carryover from the Super Bowl & NFL playoffs most likely. Its clear, however, that the NFL Draft has had a large impact on sales as you’ll clearly see w/ the #1 overall player.

As if last year wasn’t a good enough indicator of how bad Mark Sanchez is at quarterback in New York, the former USC stand-out showcased his great hot-dog eating skills last night… oh wait, that was last year. So what exactly did Sanchez do on Monday Night Football w/ his team trying to make a statement vs. the Baltimore Ravens?
Try 74 total passing yards.
Not in a quarter or a half, in the entire game – minus Ed Reed on the Ravens defense btw. The total is 2nd to last for week 1 …

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was the clear choice for NFC Offensive Rookie of the year in 2007. With his superhuman like abilities, Peterson set the league mark for rushing in a game (296 yards) and also had an impressive 224-yard game against the Chicago Bears.
In an interview with Men’s Fitness, Peterson stated “I’m around 218 lbs right now. I want to keep my body lean, but I’d like to add a couple more pounds of muscle. If I get my weight steady around 222 lbs, something like that, …

Already this year, we’ve seen a slew of great NFL games and inspiring storylines to help us make it through the doldrums of fall & winter… I’m in Arizona, so not so much personally, but I know enough people in colder and more varied climate regions that really having nothing but football to enjoy.
While most of the stories surrounding the NFL right now are positive (e.g. Saints, Colts, Favre, Young), there are some others being dramatized by national/local media analysts and other individuals covering sports that may not have (full) …

We’ve all played sports video games before. From the original sports games like RBI Baseball, where you could bunt for a homerun, to Tecmo Bowl where you could literally kill a quarter with a single running play. The question still remains…Will they ever be able to create a sports video game that gets everything right? Let’s face it, no matter how advanced the computer’s AI gets, it’s still a computer with a finite amount of movements and reactions to your input on the controller. Don’t get me wrong, video games …

Every year or so, a sports movie comes out that is supposed to make you feel good, tell a captivating tale, break your heart, or keep you on the edge of your seat. Unfortunately, I always walk away disappointed which is why from this day forward – with the exception of The Sandlot – I will never watch another sports movie.Â
I hesitate to even put The Sandlot in the “sports movie” category because it is really more of a story about growing up, getting into trouble, facing your adversity, and …
