New Orleans Saints Place Reggie Bush On IR w/ Knee Injury

J-Jerseys Admin | NFL | Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Football News from NFL.com

The Saints will place Reggie Bush on injured reserve, ending the star running back’s injury-riddled season two games early.   Continue reading on NFL.com

Without the chance of being in the NFL Playoffs, the New Orleans Saints are placing running back Reggie Bush on the injured reserve list, ultimately ending his 2008-09 season.  With Bush, the Saints were one of the most explosive offensive teams in the league and without were still pretty formidable.

Bush will now have extra time to recover from the earlier knee injury and get healthy for next year.  Hopefully, the Saints will be in a good position next year for a playoff berth.  Certainly, the team will miss Reggie, but they should still close out the season pretty strongly.

Saints Concerned About Reggie Bush’s Knee

J-Jerseys Admin | NFL | Saturday, December 13th, 2008

Football News from NFL.com

Reggie Bush’s left knee will be examined again after what appeared to be a minor sprain.   Continue reading on NFL.com

Reggie Bush returned to the New Orleans Saints’ lineup on Thursday night, but did not have the explosiveness that we have come to expect.  In the loss, Bush was less than effective and clearly outplayed by Pierre Thomas.

With the NFL playoffs seemingly out of the picture, it appears that Saints’ coach Sean Payton will allow Reggie to rest and get healthy for next year.  The left knee injury occured in the game against the Chicago Bears and Bush was removed from the lineup, despite his willingness to continue.  Good move by the Saints to take him out and ensure that he is available next year.

Drew Brees & Saints Dominate Packers in New Orleans on MNF

J-Jerseys Admin | NFL | Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Football News from NFL.com

Drew Brees threw for four scores, Deuce McAllister set a Saints record with his 54th career touchdown and New Orleans rolled to a 51-29 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Monday night.   Continue reading on NFL.com

The New Orleans Saints were surely glad to be back on home turf after 42 days since their last home game in Louisiana.  After exchanging scores with the Green Bay Packers for the 1st half, the Saints exploded in the 3rd quarter enroute to a dominating 51-29 victory.

The game had some pretty big implications, since both teams were not playing up to expectations and in danger of being eliminated from the playoff picture. The Saints can rest easier now at 6-5, while the Packers at 5-6 are still not out of it yet either, but certainly closer.  New Orleans won consecutive games for the 1st time all season - kind of hard to believe huh?

Saints vs. Packers - Monday Night Football Video Highlights

Drew Brees executed a perfect offensive game plan against the league’s best passing defense (prior to the game at least).  The Saints threw to the center of the field often and got quite a few yards after the catch by Lance Moore and Marques Colston, among others.  Brees led New Orleans w/ 4 TD passes and was taken out of the game once it was clear that the Saints would win.

NO was w/out Reggie Bush, despite rumors that he would be active for the game.  After matching a team high 51 pts, it is clear that the Saints did not need Bush and that they should be even stronger when he returns.

Saints’ Marques Colston Out 4-6 Weeks w/ Thumb Injury

J-Jerseys Admin | NFL | Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Football News from NFL.com

Marques Colston, the New Orleans Saints’ top receiver during the past two seasons, had surgery on his left thumb and will miss four to six weeks.

This is an injury that could hurt the New Orleans Saints’ playoff chances, simply because it takes away a weapon for QB Drew Brees. Without Marques Colston as a deep threat, other defenses will be able to key in on the other offensive players including Jeremy Shockey, Reggie Bush and Brees as well. It will be interesting to see how these players perform during Colston’s absence. If they lose 1/2 of the games while he’s out, they might risk missing the playoffs.

Fantasy football wise… Colston’s injury presents a lot of problems for owners who picked him up in an early round; hopefully you have a decent WR backup on your bench. Aside from the loss of points for Colston, Drew Brees owners (including myself) may face some reduced points, since he won’t be throwing to such a dependable receiver anymore - his TD’s may also come down a notch as well. Owners of Shockey and Bush should see an improvement, since Drew will have to make up for Colston’s catches by passing the ball to other players.

Status of Saints-Bucs game in Superdome still to be determined

J-Jerseys Admin | NFL | Monday, September 1st, 2008

Football News from NFL.com

The Louisiana Superdome, for now still scheduled to host an NFL regular-season opener Sunday between the Saints and Buccaneers, appeared to be in good condition after the worst of Hurricane Gustav had passed, the stadium’s operator said.

The residents of New Orleans have been allowed to return home, and with that comes hope that the Superdome will play host to the first game of the season for the Saints.  Hurricane Gustav passed through Louisiana on Monday (& continued North), but left the area in much better shape than Katrina did several years ago.

For the Saints players, the homefield advantage is critical and is surely a welcomed event considering everything that has happened the past week or so (evacuations, Gustav, flooding, etc).

Tampa Bay will give New Orleans about all they can handle on the defensive end and they will run the ball until Earnest Graham is out of breath.  The Saints will counter with one of the strongest & most diverse offenses in the NFL this year, featuring the newly acquired (jackass) Jeremy Shockey, QB Drew Brees and RB Reggie Bush.  If the Saints’ defense can hold their own for at least 2-3 quarters, I think New Orleans will win by at least 10 pts.  If the defense struggles, the game could be as close as 3 pts (either way).

Reggie Bush Jersey - New Orleans Saints Player

J-Jerseys Admin | NASCAR, NFL | Thursday, December 27th, 2007

Freakishly quick & agile, the New Orleans Saints’ Reggie Bush is a rare NFL running back.  He reminds a lot of NFL fans of Barry Sanders, but until Bush proves he can handle the workload in New Orleans, he’ll still just be “Reggie Bush”.  With the Saints primary running back, Deuce McAllister injured, Bush had to step up this year in an attempt to carry the load.  He was doing an admirable job until he partially tore his posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

In addition to the stress of being a high NFL draft pick, Reggie has also challenged the odds that his skills would translate to the professional game.  It’s one thing to exceed in NCAA football, but the NFL is a whole other ballgame.

Bush created quite a following while playing college football for USC, where he won several national championships and the 2005 Heisman Award as a Trojan.  Reggie’s electrifying plays and acrobatic moves delighted the nation for a number of years, but he is now in danger of losing his Heisman, since he accepted money and benefits while playing.  The verdict is still out on exactly what ramifications that Reggie will face because of his actions.

Despite all that is going on negatively, the Reggie Bush jersey is still one of the top selling NFL jerseys this year (& last year).  Below, we’ve got a full selection of Bush jerseys (authentic, replica, signed, etc) - heck, there are even pink jerseys for the ladies:
